Privacy summary

Information Sniploom handles

Sniploom handles only the information required to provide its text-expansion features:

• Saved content: shortcuts, snippet text, titles, aliases, rich-text formatting, links, templates, template variables and defaults, categories, pinned and favorite status, and other snippet metadata that you intentionally create or import.
• Extension preferences: category colors, manager layout, expansion triggers, shortcut suggestions, aliases, undo behavior, and backup-reminder state.
• Selected webpage text: handled only when you explicitly choose Save to Sniploom from the right-click menu. The selected text is held temporarily in local extension storage so the snippet form can open, and is removed when the popup next processes it. Pending selections older than five minutes are not used.
• Clipboard content: read only when you insert a snippet containing the {clipboard} variable. Clipboard content is used locally to complete that insertion and is not saved by Sniploom. If Quick Search cannot insert into an active field, Sniploom may copy the snippet you selected to your clipboard as a user-requested fallback.
• Text immediately before the cursor: processed temporarily and locally to recognize a saved shortcut when you type in a supported editable field. This surrounding text is not stored as browsing history.

Sniploom does not create an account, request your name or email address, collect browsing history, use cookies, or monitor pages for advertising, analytics, or telemetry.

How information is used

The locally handled information is used only to:

• Save, search, organize, import, export, edit, and delete your snippets.
• Recognize your configured shortcut and insert the corresponding text.
• Prompt you to fill template variables such as {name}.
• Resolve automatic variables such as date, time, clipboard, and cursor position.
• Create a snippet from webpage text that you explicitly select.
• Open Quick Search and insert the snippet you select.
• Show occasional local backup reminders at supported snippet-count milestones.

Sniploom does not use this information for advertising, credit decisions, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to its text-expansion functionality.

Browser permissions and website access

Password, one-time-code, PIN, credit-card, and other recognized sensitive fields are excluded from text expansion.

Website access is broad because a text expander must be available wherever the user chooses to type. Sniploom does not use that access to create browsing-history records, inspect unrelated page content, or profile browsing activity.

Sharing, selling, and third parties

Sniploom does not sell, rent, disclose, or transfer your snippets, typed text, or extension preferences to third parties. The extension contains no advertising SDK, analytics service, or developer-operated data server.

No developer or employee can read your locally stored snippets through Sniploom.

When you choose to insert a snippet or clipboard value into a website, that website receives the inserted content in the same way as text you type or paste yourself. The destination website may process that content under its own privacy policy. Sniploom does not separately transmit that content to the developer or to another third party.

Data retention and your control

Your data remains in Chrome's local extension storage until you edit or delete a snippet, clear all snippets, import a replacement library, clear the extension's browser data, or uninstall the extension.

Clipboard content and text examined immediately before the cursor are processed transiently and are not retained as snippet data unless you explicitly save that content.

You can export a JSON backup from Sniploom's manager page. Export occurs only after you choose it, and the downloaded file is controlled by you.

Security

Sniploom minimizes risk by keeping its data processing local, excluding recognized sensitive fields, requesting only the permissions needed for its single purpose, and not transmitting user data over a network.

Chrome local extension storage is tied to your browser profile and is not presented as end-to-end encrypted storage. Anyone with access to your unlocked device or browser profile may be able to access locally stored snippets. Avoid saving passwords, authentication codes, payment-card data, or other highly sensitive secrets as snippets.

You remain responsible for the content you save and for protecting access to your browser profile, device, and exported backup files.

Children's privacy

Sniploom is a general productivity tool and is not directed to children under 13. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children or from any other user on a developer-controlled server.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated when Sniploom's functionality or data-handling practices change. The effective date and version at the top of this page will be updated. Material changes will be disclosed to users as required before the changed data practice begins.
